This is actually the second time that I had the pleasure of working with this momma! She was one of our beautiful models for The Motherhood Project! She mentioned booking a full session to include her husband at the time so I was super excited to connect with her and schedule her for a personalized maternity session including dad.
Since I think all Northern Virginia and DC residents are well aware of how traffic can negatively effect your drive very quickly, we decided that we were going to have this session at Jones Point Park in Alexandria, which was a great spot between me and my clients. I love this location because it’s such a surprisingly serene location for being so close to the heart of the activity in the DC Metro area.
We very nearly had to reschedule our session due to weather, but boy did we luck out that day! It was a good thing too because mom added hair and makeup to her session so we had to make sure that we were communicating with Kara at Best Face Forward as we were keeping an eye on the forecast. When we arrived, the weather was absolutely amazing! It wasn’t too hot yet for June, and there was a heavenly breeze blowing through the park.
We spent some time exploring a few different spots throughout the session, choosing an open field for a few photos, and then heading towards the water to get some photos there. As we started heading back towards the parking lot, we stopped for a few more photos after the sun had dropped but then the clouds rolled in FAST! It was crazy how quickly the weather shifted! Mom and dad brought some shoes and sonogram pictures so we quickly took a few last shots with the props and called it a day.
I’m so excited to get to meet their baby boy in just a couple months and capture their first memories at home together as a family of three!
