Prenatal yoga can be a great activity to prepare the body for labor and delivery. It can also help make pregnancy go more smoothly. Yoga is a beautiful way to relax and connect with your senses through focused breathing, gentle stretching, and meditation. Prenatal yoga has been known to improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, increase strength and flexibility, and decrease back pain, nausea, and headaches. Check out these four locations if you’re looking for a studio that offers prenatal yoga classes in the Northern Virginia area.

4 Prenatal Yoga Centers in Northern Virginia

Beloved Yoga

Prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to connect with your developing baby while moving, stretching, and strengthening your body. Beloved Yoga offers a three-week prenatal yoga series that helps women prepare for labor and childbirth while relaxing the mind and body. Yoga poses can help reduce tension and pain as a woman’s body changes throughout pregnancy.

Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings and are 75 minutes long. You can attend either in person or online. Sign up for classes on their website. You can find Beloved Yoga at 11109 Sunset Hills Road. Reston, VA 20191.

Easy Day Yoga

Prenatal yoga is a way to apply yoga postures, deep breathing, and peaceful meditation to help alleviate some of the challenges women face during pregnancy. Yoga also helps pregnant mothers prepare for childbirth and postpartum recovery. Prenatal yoga can relieve common complaints such as sciatica, back pain, swelling, and heartburn. At the same time, meditation brings a stronger connection to pregnancy and a positive outlook for labor and delivery.

Each class combines active, flowing poses and simple, restorative poses. These classes are an excellent way for expecting moms to connect with one another!

Easy Day currently operates at two locations. The first can be found at 21040 Sycolin Road Ashburn, VA 20147. You can visit the other at 112 South St SE Suite Y Leesburg, VA 20175.

A weekly schedule can be found on their website.

Refresh Yoga Center

Prenatal yoga classes at Refresh Yoga Center are beneficial during all stages of pregnancy. Classes are therapeutic, relaxing and help prepare a mother for childbirth and postpartum. Each one-hour class includes strengthening, stretching, breathing techniques, pelvic floor exercises, fetal positioning for labor, hip openers, and tension-relieving poses.

Postnatal yoga classes are also offered as a great form of self-care for new moms. These classes allow mothers to connect in a safe space as they transition into parenthood. Postnatal classes can also improve posture and elevate mood.

You can refresh yourself at 110 King Street 2nd Floor Alexandria, VA 22314.

Epiphany Pilates

Epiphany Pilates offers prenatal and postnatal classes designed to prepare a woman’s body for childbirth and promote quick postpartum recovery. This pilates program strengthens the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, and posture while allowing women to return to their pre-pregnancy energy and flexibility levels.

Like yoga, pilates is one of the safest and most effective forms of exercise during pregnancy and postpartum. It has a “whole body” approach to physical fitness, where mothers can strengthen their muscles and balance while improving their focus and mood. The changes during pregnancy can cause lots of discomfort and pain. Prenatal pilates can effectively alleviate some of the everyday aches and pains a woman experiences as her body changes.

Classes include:

  • prenatal pilates mat,
  • prenatal pilates reformer,
  • mommy and me pilates,
  • prenatal and postnatal pilates circuit,
  • bump barre,
  • baby at the barre, and
  • private sessions.

You can visit Epiphany at 9416 Main Street Fairfax, VA 22031.
